Kojima Productions shared the news of the game’s launch for Xbox Series S/X on Thursday. The timing indicates that the game’s five-year exclusivity period on PlayStation likely concluded on November 7. “Xbox community members, please enjoy,” the studio stated on X.

“Celebrating its 5th anniversary today, DEATH STRANDING, which first premiered on PlayStation 4 on November 8, 2019, has connected with over 19 million players globally,” announced Kojima Productions. “With the arrival of DEATH STRANDING DIRECTOR’S CUT on Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, and Luna, we aim to further expand the DEATH STRANDING IP across various entertainment mediums and reach even more players worldwide.”

Moreover, for a limited time, Death Stranding Director’s Cut is available on both Xbox and PC at a 50 percent discount.

The Xbox page for the game highlights support for cloud saves, Xbox Achievements, and the Xbox Play Anywhere feature. Additionally, the Director’s Cut includes options for high framerate, photo mode, and ultra-wide monitor support.

Kojima Productions also unveiled the game’s availability on Amazon Luna the same day. Players can access the title on this cloud gaming platform by subscribing to Amazon Luna+.

Published by 505 Games, Death Stranding Director’s Cut first launched on PS5 in 2021, with its PC version following a year later. Earlier in the year, the game became available on iPhone 15 Pro and iPad and MacBook models utilizing Apple silicon.

Kojima Productions is actively developing the sequel, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, which was announced at The Game Awards 2022. The sequel is expected to arrive in 2025. While confirmed for PS5, there are no official details regarding a potential PC and Xbox release. Death Stranding 2 will feature returning characters from the original game, including Norman Reedus, Léa Seydoux, and Troy Baker.
